“Speculative traders are ending the year doubling down on their bets against the dollar. Net short non-commercial positions in futures linked to the ICE U.S. Dollar Index have surged to the most since March 2011, according to the latest Commodity Futures Trading Commission data.”
USAGOLD note: There have been periods in the past when the dollar depreciated significantly against other currencies even though nation-states, in general, were engaged in across-the-board currency devaluations. The 1970s come to mind, as do the early 2000s.
