What is Sapphire?

Sapphires achieve a hardness grade of 7.5 – 8 on Moh’s scale. Interestingly, the name Sapphire comes from the Latin word Saphirus and the Greek Sapheiros, meaning blue.

Princess Diana immortalised Blue Sapphire jewellery with her fabulous cluster ring. Prince William gave the ring to Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.
