Introducing personalised sound pattern wedding rings
Earlier this week, we added to our collection of unique wedding rings with a brand new ring design: the Sound Wave Wedding Ring—also known as the Sound Pattern Wedding Ring. You might refer to it as the Voice Memo Ring.
Add any sound to a ring
The Sound Pattern Wedding Ring features a unique pattern formed from any sound. We convert any sound into a clear graphic added around the outside of a precious metal wedding ring.
The Sound Pattern Ring completes our two popular services. Both the fingerprint wedding ring and heartbeat engraved wedding ring sell to clients across the World. We’re delighted to add a third service with the Sound-Wave Ring.
Our first Sound Wave Wedding Ring
Sound-pattern engraved with a baby’s heartbeat
To launch the Sound Pattern Ring, I decided to unearth the recording of my son’s heartbeat. Like many iPhone users, I carry a large archive of photographs and recordings—all backed up to my iCloud account.
After the success of the fingerprint and heartbeat rings, my intentions to introduce the Sound Pattern Ring took a back seat owing to the launch of our new showroom. After chatting with the team, we made the decision to launch the design for 2020.
Accessing the iPhone voice recorder
iPhones feature a voice memo recorder, suitable for capturing the sound and graphic.
Using the 3 dots on the menu (as shown below) the edit recording tab takes users into a screen with a clear graphic.
Although this appears as a white pattern on a black background, we invert the pattern for engraving.

In the lower part of the iPhone screen, a longer image shows a narrow sound pattern ideal for engraving around a ring.

I’ve added my son’s heartbeat into a Soundcloud file so that you can hear the original recording. I made this recording using my phone during labour. The sound came from a CTG device in the maternity suite of the local hospital.
“A CTG is done using an electronic fetal heart rate monitor that records your baby’s heartbeat…”
How do we create a sound pattern ring?
With the sound pattern in hand, we calculate the circumference and width of your chosen ring to create the final pattern.
Next, we laser engrave the pattern in a continuous design around the ring.
In addition to the sound pattern, we can add any text to the inside of the ring. In my example, a suitable example would be my son’s name and date of birth.
For voice recordings, we recommend the words spoken on your recording.

What are hammered wedding rings?
Hammered wedding rings provide a rustic feel, patterned with a beaten effect. Another name for the hammered finish is ‘Planished’. This name describes the process of lightly hammering the surface of metal. Planishing creates a faceted mosaic effect.
Patterned wedding rings appeal to anyone looking for a unique and decorative pattern on their rings. Patterns range from subtle textures to sparkle cuts with a diamond effect.
Matte hammered wedding rings
A matte hammered wedding ring offers a more subtle design popular with men. Buyers can choose between the matte brushed satin effect to mirror-polished, or matte with a machined edge.
Over the last 12 months, many of our clients requested planished rings. With our growing showroom collection, many shoppers book to view wedding rings in our showroom. During an appointment, clients try on most ring styles. In addition, we offer guidance on precious metals and accurately check finger sizes.
Some buyers living further away ask to borrow ring samples through our sample loan service.
The matte finish appeals to buyers looking for a modern wedding ring style. The hammered pattern differs from traditional plain wedding ring styles.
How do we create a planished rings?
To begin with, we select the Osborne medium weight wedding ring. Clients choose their preferred width and metal choice.
Next, we machine the hammered effect through precision engineering before completing each ring with a choice of finish. Our third ring style gives a shiny edge to the ring. We machine the edge around each side of the hammered surface. Our machined process creates precision crafted planished rings.
Ethical hammered wedding rings
Our ethical wedding rings are made from Fairtrade Gold. Fairtrade Gold is mined by Artisanal miners working in certified Fairtrade mines. Alternative choices include recycled 950 Platinum and Palladium. Today, Platinum remains a popular choice owing to the higher cost of Gold.
Do women wear hammered wedding rings?
Women wear planished wedding rings. Typically, brides select a narrower wedding ring to wear with an engagement ring. We recommend going no narrower than 2.5mm for the planished wedding ring pattern.
A comparison of hammered finish wedding rings
Watch our short video below to compare our three new planished wedding rings. All feature the hammered pattern but completed with a mirror polish over the hammered effect, or frosted, or finally, frosted with a machine cut edge.
