photo of Japanese yen notes“A prominent economic adviser to Japan’s prime minister says Tokyo should prepare for a ‘leaderless era’ as U.S. global leadership gradually withers, and expand other strategic ties while bolstering its security alliance with Washington.”

USAGOLD note:  Interesting that these views did not stay within Japan’s power circle, perhaps a signal from its new prime minister Suga that Japan is ready to stretch its wings in Asia. One wonders how this translates to Japan’s future acquisitions of U.S. debt and the value of the dollar. Japan, as you can see in the graphic from HowMuch.net (please scroll below), is the number-one holder of U.S. Treasuries at $1.27 trillion.
